Congratulations you are almost halfway through the challenge. But, there is still some way to go so no resting yet.
By now, you should have completed the tasks for both day 1 and day 2 and have a first draft of your e-book completed. Please do not worry if you did not manage to complete the tasks, it is not a race and some people may need more time to complete the same tasks.
As long as you have made an effort you should feel proud of your achievements so far. But for the majority of you you should be ready now to complete the tasks of Day three.
I will be uploading some podcasts related to this article miniseries shortly, but I provide the text version first so you have something to work with.
Your questions answered:
Some people have mentioned that they are not able to write as fast as this article series suggests.
Remember it takes time to become proficient at something so if this is your first time writing, expect it to take a little longer than normal.
Once you have the hang of it it will become easier and easier if you follow this guide in the future. Go at your own pace especially if it is your first time, but make sure you do not slack in your efforts.
This guide will show you a truly efficient way to write a new book. There is always a learning curve with anything new so stick with it, understand the logic and try your best to keep up with the seven days of the challenge.
There are however some tricks to help speed up your writing speeds. I currently use speaking software where I am able to dictate these words and therefore speeding up the process of writing. I am currently using Mac speech dictate international which is the Mac version of the popular PC-based software Dragon speak.
Although I like writing as it increases my creativity, I highly recommend speech dictation software when you are clear what you want to write about. This article, for example is being written very quickly by the speech software.
Day three tasks:
1) review our e-book:
So, by now you should have a first draft completed e-book. Remember, a first draft is not perfect. we wrote a lot yesterday so we do not expect the book to be error-free. Today’s first task is to read through the work from yesterday keeping in mind the three key themes we mention at the beginning of each chapter. Read through each chapter to make sure they keep to the theme and that the information flows in a way that the user is able to follow.
Read through the e-book:
- checking that it flows
- checking that the three key themes for each chapter have been followed
- checking spelling and grammar mistakes
You may after reading it through a second time find that there are certain themes missing which you now want to include, that is fine. If it will not take too long to write, feel free to add what is missing. If on the flipside you find information that seemed irrelevant and confusing feel free to delete it from your book.
That now is your second version of the book, congratulate yourself, I know that is a real achievement. I was very proud after I’d finished my first full draft as my biggest problem was that i’d never completed things. They call that the curse of the entrepreneur, but I managed to eliminate it and so can you.
2) gaining inspiration from other sources:
In the previous two days I asked you to avoid reading competitors material in order to ensure that your e-book is written in a unique way and does not have the tendency to look like somebody else’s work. Now, we have written our own book it is okay to do some research in order to ensure we provide the most meaningful information in our evil.
Spend no more than one hour reading other material, whether that be on the Internet, via forums, other books or even talking to somebody else and knowledgeable about the theme of your e-book. If you find really valuable information and you feel it must go in this e-book then rewriting it in your own style you may add it. IMPORTANT – even if you rewrite it in your own style, ensure you credit the origin source otherwise that is infringement of copyright.
This step is just a little icing on the cake and for many of you you will find that you have written the same things but in a different way, which should be a great confidence boost as what you know is obviously saleable.
3) naming your book:
It might seem strange that I have left the naming of the book to this stage. However, there is a valid reason for this. Now we have a book that has numerous key themes and offers value to a customer. I want you to think of the answers to the following questions that will help was named the e-book as the name of the e-book is quite important.
- What is the one core theme that runs throughout the entire e-book
- what questions would people ask where my e-book would provide the perfect answer
- what advantage would people have after reading my e-book
We should already have a basic answer to these questions as we discussed them in day one. However, It is always good to do this exercise again after we have made changes to our initial plan.
Using the answer to the above questions decide on the perfect name for your book. Do not spend more than one hour thinking about these questions. The name only has to be good enough to create interest, there is no such thing as a perfect name, so when you like a certain name stick with it.
You have time in the coming days to change the name if you really feel that you do not like it any more. So, after brainstorming picked the most appropriate name and forget about it for the rest of the day.
Congratulations, you have now a product which is ready to sell. That is a major achievement, reward yourself you deserve it. That also is the hardest few days of the task and from now on the tasks become a little easier.
Tomorrow’s lesson will start work on our website or our sales machine. But for today finished the task I mention above and look forward to the prospect of starting to make money. See you tomorrow.
(The podcasts will be up shortly and will aid in explaining certain elements of this challenge)
