Hey, you've been here a few times now, we would love to hear what you think about this article by leaving a comment. We look forward to reading it.

An update on the status of my 7 figure income within one year challenge.

It is now the six month mark on my project, and yes, like most plans in life, I am way behind schedule. I am however not worried, as this is the stage when the plan is starting to come together.

Lets recap:

  1. Started the challenge in February after a conversation with some students who claimed it could not be done
  2. I gave up everything and had to start from zero, even giving up my flat for shared accommodation
  3. First task was to earn enough money to survive the month and then enough to start projects.
  4. Unlike most people who would only work online, I tried to take the approach of a newbie, and instead ensured I made enough money offline to survive first, before investing in my online business.
  5. As stated in a previous update, I used quick and innovative ways to make money fast offline.
  6. I charted my path to success online and began working on the projects.

The challenges:

  1. Keeping motivation was extremely difficult at the start, partly due to so many new experiences and emotions
  2. Family deaths knocked me for six – a part of life I must accept, but no doubt that for a while I was lost.
  3. Moving into shared accommodation with a psycho.

So it has not all been an easy ride for me, nothing actually like I expected. It has been a lot tougher mentally and emotionally but if I look back, I’m glad I had this experience as perhaps I did lose touch a little with the reality of starting a new business. The ra ra ra motivational spiel everyone gives you, of course helps, but it does not realistically prepare you to overcome setback after setback.

I can no longer use my trusted employees and partners but must rely on cheaper thrid parties which in itself brings a whole new range of challenges.

  1. Can you trust them
  2. Do they truly understand what you want
  3. Can they really deliver or will they waste months of your time?

One of the projects I was due to release as early as March has seen delay after delay from a programmer, and is still frustrating me daily. I have learnt some valuable lessons about who I choose to work with, setting deadlines, and being prepared to walk away no matter how close the end seems, if my warning signals tell me there is going to be complications.

So, where am I now:

  • I’ve moved to England for 3 weeks with my mother to save on a bit of rent and attend a cousins wedding.

The real reason for moving was that I lived for 3 months with an absolute psycho. There was a real danger that he would hurt himself or even me, so I had to leave quickly.

This was a result of following my challenge. I moved out of my apartment and opted for shared accommodation to save on rent. I had little idea just how much stress and strain there is involved with living with the wrong person. The first month was OK, a little strange but OK, but when the landlady warned me that my housemate had threatened her, and that she seriously felt he was emotionally unstable, alarms bells should have rang. I suffered another 2 months in that flat, which was absolutely no good for my motivation, concentration or emotional health. In the last month I hated coming home, and avoided going home as long as I could so that I would not have to see him.

That my friends, is no way to live so I had to end it.

I’m not upset about certain bad experiences I have had, it reminds me that those who have made it often forget the strains and stresses that everyday life for most people brings. Something which can only help me connect with my readers in the coming six months.

Although I still have not managed to release a product, the next six months really excite me. I have so many projects at 75% complete stage that this month will see the start of the first of many launches.

I’ve broken the shackles and instead of looking for my first release to be a big one, I’m more then happy to have a few things out there, to show I’m alive on my Venture to the top.

My successes:

  1. Was able to make enough money offline to survive
  2. Have added over 100 RSS readers within a week, meaning this blog is actually being received well and I’m building a following
  3. My posts on forum have recieved some great attention and offers for collaborations.

My blog for the next 6 months of this challenge (the last half) will focus on the following 3 areas:

  • The exact methods I am using
  • How my projects are performing
  • Challenges and how I am overcoming them.

This next six months will be a must read for anyone wanting to make a success in business. Not only will it be inspiring, but my past six months will allow me to express myself in a real down to earth way, where you know I understand many of your problems and can find ways to overcome them, just like you can too.

To our success and my Venture to the Top.
