So, I’ve been on this challenge now coming close to 6 weeks and about 4.5/5 weeks of blogging and a whole new set of challenges has arisen.

Originally I wished to document everything i wanted to do on this blog, however I mentioned something openly and had to take the post down within hours as people almost immediately started to copy it. It does not make any business sense to create my own competition and thus there has to be some changes to way I report what I do. I will only really document what I have done to:

1) People who are paying me in my ‘upcoming’ coaching program

2) or after a set time delay on the newsletter area of my blog.

This led me to rethink what exactly I would blog about, that would still stick to my ambition and still add value to my readers. But this brainstorming actually turned into some really great quality content. This content will be broken down into a series of articles on a few key themes which will show my readers how i progressed and how step by step readers can follow the key ingredients to create success within their own niches. These articles will focus initially on the following areas:

Focus for success. A series of 10 articles with exercises to build a perfect foundation.

Market research. A Series of 12 articles to detail the a-z of conducting Market research related to an online niche

Content Generation. A 15 article series which details how to create good quality content, and with ease.

Launch Strategy. A series of 10 articles detailing How to plan a perfect product launch

Marketing 101. A series on articles which bring you success fast. More advanced techniques will be kept for my coaching program, with a glimpse of the quality content here.

Mentor finding. Series of articles on how to find and keep a mentor. Ho to make best use of a mentor and important things to keep in mind.

Guest postings. I’m blessed to have some very top quality marketers follow this blog, so I’m going to regularly give these guests a chance to showcase their talent and themselves to my audience. I will choose these guests by the quality of feedback left on my blog.

Success showcase. A showcase of my success and those of my new students, so you know first hand how it all works.

I have no regrets as to how this blog has developed over the first four weeks. Within this short time, I am not only indexed by Goggle but also have a PR1, which shows I am doing something right. My first free ebook of the challenge should be good to go this weekend, and my first paid project by the month end.

I’m a little bit behind my planned schedule as I lost a little focus and got a little disheartened by having to miss so many luxuries that I am used to. I’m very glad I hit this low point and it helps me realise just how hard it is for some people and how hard it is to keep focus when you are wondering how to pay next months rent. I’m very used to working with ‘well to do people’ who already have some success, but now I have opened myself up to a whole new target audience who possible number 10 times more then my previous audience.

Life is still not easy, I do not have next months rent yet, but I hope first paid product of the challenge will solve that issue completely…

Stay tuned and don’t forget to keep posting your messages of support!

3 Things you should do within 30 days of a New blog.

I’m a firm believer of just getting started. So, I always tell my students, do not worry about a beautiful design, having the whole years articles planned etc, JUST GET STARTED. Why because that is where 90% of people fail, so firstly do what 10% of successful people do and just make sure everything is just good enough to get started.

However, there comes a time where you need to start working on improving things. The aim initially is just to get started, but the mindset should be to continually improve things until they are the best. So, after seeing a number of students follow my lead in starting a new blog, I though I should now share 7 tips on where to focus improvements within 15 days of setting up a new blog.

Within 15 days of a new blog you should:

1) Know where the spell check button is within your chosen text software.

Time take: 1-5 min per article

I personally focused first on writing good articles. I didn’t stop myself to check spellings, I simply let the writing flow. I decided to write my posts within the WordPress editor but I did not know where the spellcheck was, so didn’t spend to much time on it, I simply made sure the article was good enough and then posted it.

After a week however, I found the button and started using it. Initially people can forgive a few spelling mistakes, but if you do not take the time to spell check you documents, then you will look less and less professional and possibly hinder your blogs growth.

(In WordPress the spell check button is simply the one with ABC and a tick mark underneath)

2) Adding an avatar image to your own comments.

Time taken: 5 min

Adding an image to your blog comments, not only makes them more personal but also makes your comments stand out, heck it’s your blog, why shouldn’t your comments stand out?

In WordPress these are known as Gravatar and have some cool benefits which you can read about by clicking here. I also provide instructions on how to add them.

For other blogging programs do a quick search on the Internet to find a solution.

These two simple things, make your posts readable and look professional, and

In the next part of this series I will be giving more advanced tips, as I will assume you are done with the learning phase of your new blog. This includes adding an image (Favicon) to your website tab, as well as ways to increase your subscriber count. ’7 Things you should do within 30 days of a new blog’ article coming soon.
